How to replace door panel clips?

Post by Mesrine »

Hi all,

I removed my interior door panels to replace them with better ones from a donor car. Unfortunately for me, most of the green clips are broken. I just ordered new ones, and I wanted to remove the old ones, but can’t get them out of the door card. Is there a technique to get them out?

Cheers

Yes. Accept that BMW never cared about assisting in disassembly to publish detailed instructions.

Make your best guess on removing an old green clip, and see what happens. Adjust the learning process as required.

You can usually work them out, look at the new ones, see the shape of the base. You get it to the right spot, then lever and turn and they kind of unscrew, as soon as you get an ear out, they come right out. If they're broken off flush you might be able to get a needle nose in there.

Thanks for the tips, I Finally got them out! That was painful. Twisting them while making a lever with a small screwdriver was the go.
