water pump check?
water pump check?
HI again guys, Just want to have any info on how to check the condition of the water pump without taking it off. I already checked the thermostat and it opens up pretty quick with a little heat from a lighter. I also opened up the little bleeder bolt while the engine running to make sure that there is no air lock there. but it is my understanding that if all the air trapped inside is gone the little bleeder hole there will throw out water but there is none and the temperature reading is high. My suspicion is that there is no circulation going on in there, How do I check if this pump is still pumping water as it should.

I suspect the bleed hole is clogged (common issue) or the radiator is completely clogged.
I'd clean the bleed hole with a small piece of stiff wire until water comes out.
It's possible the water pump is bad but I've never seen one bad that way (on older BMW).
Normally they work until they leak.

That's amazing. I did remove the bleed bolt on repo car when I first bought it and still coolant would not come out. It was totally clogged in the tstat coverjayne58 wrote:Thanx Peter, I dont see any leak coming from the water pump and no unusual noise coming from it, bleed hole is not clogged either, so I think I am left with the totally bad (clogged) radiator. Thanx again for the input.

If the pump is working you will see the circulation in the coolant reservoir
