Coolant overflow bottle.

Post by 1st 5er »

Mine looses pressure where the metal and plastic meet.

Any quick fixes, short of buying a new one?

Do you mean where the metal part for the radiator cap is? Perhaps you can try JB weld? I had some small leaks around the neck of the radiator cap area and I sealed it up with RTV silicone. Hasn't leaked since.

Do you have any pictures so we might be able to get a better idea? Best of luck.

The seepage is around the neck where it goes into the plastic bottle.

I would try putting the cap on and seeing how much clearance you have and maybe make some marks or take a mental note. JB weld is prob easier to apply than RTV silicone and won't be as raised as much, allowing for more clearance for your cap. Before using JB weld, make sure the overflow bottle is nice and clean, inside and out. Might want to double check that your surfaces are clean and dry. A small bead of JB weld all the way around should do the trick. Hopefully it works out.
