B&G Spring help
I'm installing a set of B&G's, and am wondering if anyone knows which direction the rear springs go on? One end of the spring is more tightly wound than the other, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to go. Thanks in advance.
Sorry for the silly question, but I don't understand why it matters which way the spring goes. How would it make a difference? Maybe a bit more sprung weight if the stiff coils at the bottom.wkohler wrote:Those are progressive springs. As the "more tightly wound" section binds (lower spring rate), the spring rate increases. That part goes on the bottom. Basically, you put the spring on the perch so that the text on the spring is right side up.

So I'm just realizing that when I took off my stock springs, there were no bump stops on the shocks. It has Bilstein HD's, so is it normal for one to remove the factory bump stops when installing these?
In any case, now that it's lowered, bottoming out the suspension has become more frequent. Should I have the bump stops on?
Thanks!

I'll try and get you some pics. It looks nice, but the biggest problem I have is with the front end bottoming out and relatively small stuff. I'm not sure if it's because my HD's are getting old, or because they aren't valves properly for the lower ride.
The springs themselves are of a stock spring rate, so highway ride quality isn't terribly affected. That might also be why I'm bottoming out a lot too.... Handling is moderately improved by virtue of the lower center of gravity. I think they are a 1.6" drop.

Awesome thanks. I was looking around for some H&Rs but they're pretty hard to find. I guess these wont be that bad... Its not like I plan on auto-crossing the car. I'm just looking to have a tighter feel on the suspension... its just to soft right now.
Did you buy them at Shox? theyre in el cajon. or did you go straight to B&G?
