Automatic Transmission Wiring Harness Removal Question

I've done a bunch of searching and I can't seem to find the answer, so I'll just ask.

I'm doing a bunch of cleanup under the dash of my 1981 528iA while said dashboard is out. Removed the AC box, vacuumed up a bunch of dead foam, etc. I'd like to pull the automatic transmission wiring harness since at some point in the near future I'm going to do the manny-tranny trick.

The harness has two big connectors (at the car harness end and at the shifter end), a bunch of little connectors (range lights in the cluster) and one little wire (yellow with black, it looks) that goes into a gray relay.

What do I have to jump/connect/muck with in order to remove this harness and still have my car start. I'll take the liability risk that I'm not going to start the car while in reverse or drive.

Thanks!
