Everything was exactly where it said it was, though there isn't any need to remove the vents. The cluster removal was the most difficult part, but I expected that. That cable/thumbscrew dealie was a difficult one as it got caught between the ducting and the crossbeam.
Anyway, the point of this post is to address the 9mm nut at the left front of the dash. The author of the FAQ said you have to remove all of the wiring from the distribution panel to get to the nut. While it's all coming out anyway, I am lazy and will give anything a shot that won't risk damaging something. I decided to get crafty. I figured that if I couldn't do what I was thinking, I'd do it the way the FAQ says.
Since you already have the cluster out, you can see the bracket. You're already removing the flex hoses between the defroster vents, so it's even easier to see. What I did was put together a 9mm deep-well socket, a 3" 1/4" extension, an adapter from 3/8" to 1/4", then a 9" and 3" 3/8" extensions with a 3/8" ratchet. I slid it up from the bottom and bam! Right into position. Undid the nut and I was on my way.
Just thought that would help some folks.
