Seat belt retraction fix?

Post by Blaise »

Has anyone succeeded in fixing those tired poorly retracting seat belts? Mine retract like pouring molasses.

Yes, bought new ones or replaced with racing harnesses.

I had a similar problem a few years ago.
Removed the seat belt recoil mechanism and cleaned it with a light spray of WD-40 as a sovent, then heavy spray of brake cleaner to wash out the debris. Works like a champ now.

Good to hear. I will give it a try. It looks like the retracting mechanism is in a sealed assembly. How did you get in there and reseal it?
